Major General Lockhart
Hi,
Im intriguiged by the connection of Major General Lockhart to Stonehouse. From what I read he laid one of the founding stones at one of the churches and also owned a lot of properties. Does anyone know his full name or have any other details?
Thanks
Wilson

Dick Family, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland Ancestry
Hello, First off I would like to say Thank you for your website. What a find!
I am looking for any info if at all possible on my family that came from this area and migrated to the United States after I believe 1851. My Great Great Grandmother was Effie or Euphemia Dick. Born May 30, 1846. Here parents were to be either John or David (perhaps even John David or David John) Dick and Elizabeth (Jackson) Dick. I believe Effie or Euphemia's middle initial was J. When she came to the states she married my Great Great Grandfather William Fishburn in 1864 In LaSalle, Illinois, USA. Eventually, she ended up in Seattle, WA and died here April 12, 1916.
Effie's father, David or John may have been born in Dalsert, Lanarkshire Scotland. His parents I think might have been David Dick and Janet Hamilton Dick. But this is part of why I am researching. I really don't know.
I would appreciate any information at all if anyone could help me. Literally anything and everything as I have nothing from Scotland at this point.
Thank you so kindly and I am more than happy to help with US research if anyone needs it.

Correction to my earlier post, the market place clock my mother's Great Uncles built was at Newcastle on Tyne.
My father Sydney seems to have had an older sister Violet and a brother Ernest Albert who were older than him and he never knew about them, due to being sent to Austrlia at age 9 as a child migrant.
He was told he was an orphan.
This information of him being orphaned is questionable due to the fact many children were shipped to Australia who were not orphans, and the authorities told them their parents were dead when in fact they still had living relatives in UK..
My father is now deceased 4/8/2009.
My p.o. box is now box 8288 Warnbro 6169 Western Austrlia if anyone has any information on either of the Stonehouse families from Newcastle or from Durham UK I would appreciate any info.

Sievewright Family
Hi, I have just found your website when searching for information on my husband's family tree.
I have found that one of his great great uncle's lived at a building called the Old Manse, Hill Road in Stonehaven.
I think they lived here between 1928 - 1934 period of time. Their names were William Sievewright and his wife, Ellen Clarkson Bell and their son William Sievewright. William Sievewright Snr was a plumber by trade and originally from Glasgow.
Does anyone know if this building is still in Stonehaven?

Marion Whitelaw Stewart married to James Trotter Stewart in 1890. Lived Lockhart Street, Stonehouse.
Would like to hear from anyone connected to the above familes.
Both ladies are on my father's side.

Mamie
Hi Mamie, thanks so much for your entry. You're right, Dad Whitelaw was called William (or Bill, as he was known!). Yes my Gran was the Gala Queen in 1949. That's right, Caroline sadly passed away a few years back.
My Gran married my Papa, Bobby Kelly. They had 5 daughters and 1 son who gave them 12 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. They lived in Hamilton most of their married life.
You're right again about my Great Aunt Anne, she was 68 past in December and still has her blonde hair! I will need to tell her that you have been in touch she will be delighted!
Again, you're right about the "close" between the houses at my Great Gran Sarah's.
Your memory is a lot better than you give yourself credit for! Thanks again for this, it's so lovely to hear these memories. Michelle xx

Re- Forbes Whitelaw
Hello again, just noticed your name is Michelle
I lived in Stonehouse until I got married then moved to East Kilbride
emmegrated to Australia in 1981 with my husband and 2 sons now have 2 gaughter -
in-law and 3 Grandchildren . the last time I was back in Stonehouse was 2000
Yes in my young days I did go about with your Aunt Anne more than your Gran Forbes
and in my minds eye at this moment I can see myself running through as they talked
about a "close" between houses to your Great Gran's Sarah's ..
Where we live in Sydney we have quite a few people from Stonehouse and they would
all remember the Whitelaw family..Bye take care .....Mamie
